Amnesty International compilation
March 3rd, 2010 The Amnesty International compilation that I am thrilled to be a part of will be delayed by one month. This is a music atlas of sorts, featuring music from over 50 countries. Xasthur, Sweetness
March 3rd, 2010 Portal of Sorrow, Xasthur's new full length record, will be available in early April, featuring some vocal contributions by me. As soon as It is available, I will tell you where to find it. As seemingly disparate the worlds of ambient black metal and whatever it is you want to call my music are, this collaboration actually gels quite well. It is really dark and heavy and ethereal. Xasthur (rhymes with disaster) is a one man ambient black metal machine. Do you know that Yes song, Sweetness? . It is one of my favorite songs of all time (I kid you not), but in this collaboration station, I did not bring the sweetness to a rainy afternoon, nor did I stir it with a spoon. Nevertheless, I listened to a lot of Yes in my childhood. The collaboration is not at all like this song, in terms of me bringing any kind of sweetness whatsoever. However, thinking about this song, I just wanted to hear it. I found it on youtube. The one good thing about this modern internet age is I would have had to gone through some seriously dusty cds to find this. Viola. Enjoy: In other news, I have been writing a lot lately, for my next full length record. So far, I have about 20-30 songs demoed. I have found composing on the piano and then transposing it to the guitar is really opening up a lot of worlds. They are lyrically dense with a real focus on songwriting. Brand new track on compilation to benifit Amnesty International, a musical "atlas" on the net
February 3rd, 2010 A brand new original track will be out on March 1st through the amazing compilation that I am so happy to be a part of. The press release and links are below. PEACE, the music atlas project by Buffetlibre & Amnesty International amongst many others artists from over 50 countries, join the new project by Barcelona djs Buffetlibre. All proceeds from the sale of the compilation will go to Amnesty International's humanitarian aid projects in areas of conflict. One month before the official launch of the PEACE compilation, Buffetlibre announce the latest additions to this new initiative, co-produced by Amnesty International, that will include new exclusive songs by musicians from over 50 countries, building the first musical atlas in the net. PEACE will be released on March 1, 2010, given for free to all those who, through the official PEACE website, make a minimum donation of € 2 in favor of the NGO Amnesty International. All benefits will go to Amnesty International's humanitarian aid projects in areas of conflict. January 7th, 2010 Xasthur's blog The Xasthur project: Over the past several years, I have released four full length records and have two unreleased full length records. I have also sung numerous cover songs and penned original songs for many compilations. All of these songs have had words. It has been a pleasure to work on Xasthur's newest full length record. He has words but I have none. Its been lovely to break through vocal barriers and inhibitions and contribute to something harder and darker. Go to Xasthur's blog to read about the project. This has been part of my short lived move to Southern California, but will not be a short lived collaboration. I realize that at heart I miss the freezing cold winters and icy roads.
